Our fifteen community and junior colleges are the workforce training providers of choice in Mississippi. Noncredit workforce education enables the colleges to respond to local labor market demands by meeting the workforce needs of current and future employers, as well as the needs of individuals for short-term skills training.

A Mississippi Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) is a credential based upon the Workey assessments that substantiate
to employers that an individual possesses the basic workplace skills required for 21st century jobs.
Mr. Walker’s longtime services rendered to the community college system resulted in immeasurable contributions. To commemorate his boundless efforts, an annual workforce award has been established in his honor. The award is referred to as the George F. Walker Workforce Training Award.
